OSKAR EDMUND SCHMIDT April 8, 1922 - March 18, 2013 With great sadness we announce the passing of Oskar Schmidt on Monday, March 18, 2013, at the Maples Personal Care Home at the age of 90 years. Oskar was predeceased by his beloved wife Else (Klatt) on April 14, 1994, and parents Johanna and Ferdinand Schmidt. Oskar leaves to cherish his memories, sons Erhard Eric (Sandra), Harry (Yvonne), Sandra's son Shawn, and great-grandchildren. He is also remembered by family members in Germany, Georg Semmler, Georg Keitel, Edmund Böhmert. Oskar was born in Poland and immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1952, with his wife and son. In Canada, he worked in construction for Harris Construction and Malcom Construction. Although he worked mostly with concrete, farming was still his passion. He also loved watching sports, and always enjoyed visiting and visitors. We would like to thank all the staff at Maples Care Home for their care of Oskar. Funeral service on Monday, March 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Mission Baptist Church, 771 Sargent Avenue, with viewing prior to the service. Interment in Brookside Cemetery.
