JEANETTE (JENNY) SCHROEDER December 24, 1956 - April 2, 2013 On April 2, 2013, at just after 6:00 a.m., Jenny's ritual morning coffee time with her friend Melissa, she lost her battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family and friends. Jenny was born December 24, 1956 at the Wawanesa Hospital, the second of four girls. She grew up in south western Manitoba living in the Hilton - Ninette area, Brandon, and Winnipeg, before moving to British Columbia. Fifteen years ago she returned to live in Manitoba and resided in the Beausejour area where she has worked and raised her children. She has worked in various positions at the Beausejour Hospital as well as working home care positions in Beausejour. She was a loving and giving caregiver and a wonderful friend to her fellow co-workers. She is remembered for her always positive attitude and thoughtfulness. She was the loving and protective Mom to her children Michael and Crystal MacKenzie. Her legacy of kindness towards others will live on in her children. They will carry forth with the strength and love that she has always provided in their lives. Jenny was the daughter of Agnes (Dave) Sayer and Terry (Nancy) Schroeder. She was sister to Judy (Dennis) MacKenzie and family, Bonnie (Martin) Shaw and family, and Peggy (Ed) Symons and family. She also leaves behind Michael and Crystal's father, Duane MacKenzie and his extended family. Her memory will also be cherished by long time friends Jenny Virtue of Prince George, BC and Melissa Merry of Beausejour, and many other close friends, neighbours and co-workers. Jenny has touched so many lives in the Beausejour area and evidence of this was strong throughout this ordeal. This show of support and encouragement meant so much to Jenny and has been a huge source of comfort and support for her family. Jenny was predeceased by her stepfather Dave Sayer, father Terry Schroeder, and dear grandmother Marian Reid. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at the Beausejour Community Hall in the Beausejour Room, 320 Veteran's Lane, Beausejour, MB at 1:30 p.m. Donations may be made to The Beausejour Hospital T.V. Fund, Box 1614, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0 (they provide television service to all patients at no cost), or charity of choice. The family extends their greatest appreciation to Dr. Garth Campbell, nursing and support staff, and Jenny's co-workers at Beausejour, whose care and compassion went above and beyond in supporting Jenny and her family throughout her journey. The family also wishes to acknowledge the Doctors and support staff at the Women's Pavilion of the Health Science Centre, St. Boniface Hospital, and the CancerCare Centre. To Jenny's wonderful neighbours, friends, co-workers and countless others who supported both Jenny and her family through her battle with cancer, we wish to extend heartfelt thanks. In the word of Souza, a passage that Jenny had on her refrigerator reads in part: "...it dawned on me that obstacles were my life. This perspective has helped me to see that there is no way to happiness... happiness is a journey, not a destination, so treasure every moment you have and remember that time waits for no one."
