Date of Passing: Apr 11, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMAUDE MARY TAIT (nee MASON) Peacefully on April 11, 2013 Maude passed away at the Riverview Health Centre at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her husband John in 2001. Maude is survived by her daughters Joylynn Deeley (Richard), Glenda Craddock (Lloyd), Janis Warner (Peter) and by her son John (Lisa). She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Justin (Karen), Ashleigh and Joel Deeley, Jamie and Brady Craddock, Shelly Ahern (Tristin) and Leslie Warner. She was the much loved "Nana the Great" to Isabella, Evan and Grace Deeley. Mom lived all of her life in East Kildonan. She took great pride in her home especially her beautiful garden. She was able to live independently in her home until April 6, 2013. She was a strong, independent, generous woman who worked until the age of 75. She loved reading, crossword puzzles, knitting, needlepoint, music, gardening, visiting the mountains and family celebrations. She was an inspiration to all of us. The family would like to thank her many friends at the East Kildonan Good Neighbours Seniors Club as well as her friends and the staff at the Concordia Adult Day Care Centre, her many home care workers, the palliative care nurses, the staff of the Riverview Health Centre, Dr. Darcy Johnson for his care, compassion and home visits and to Dr. Pat Harris for her kindness and expertise. A special thank you to Glenda and Lloyd for the wonderful daily care given to Mom. You can shed tears that she is gone Or you can smile because she has lived You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back Or you can open your eyes and see all she has left Your heart can be empty because you can't see her Or it can be full of the love you shared You can turn your back on tomorrow And live yesterday Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday You can remember her and only that she is gone Or you can cherish your memories and let them live on You can cry and close your mind Be empty or be unable to turn back time Or you can do what she'd want Smile-open your eyes Love- and go on. Everyday I think of you, but I really think of you and dad at Christmas. We were a very ordinary family, but not at Christmas. Christmas was the most exciting part of life. I always felt like we were super wealthy. There were so many gits, so much good food - just so much fun. To this day I absolutely love Christmas. It's my favourite day of the year, and its all because of you and dad. I love you and miss you. - Posted by: john tait (son) on: Dec 20, 2015

"Mom" Tait was an amazing woman. I will always remember her Xmas Elf suit, her beaded plastic fruit decorations, her love of Blue Mountain pottery (lovingly given to her in large quantities by husband John), her scrabble games, locking me out of the house at 40 below over Christmas, and her generous spirit. She will be remembered most for her strength and persistence in life. - Posted by: Peter Warner (Son-in-law (Janis)) on: May 02, 2013

Nana you will be greatly missed but your spirit and love will be with me forever. You were an amazing human being, full of love, generosity, wisdom and strength. I will miss talking to you and hearing your stories and advice but I was lucky to have you in my life and will cherish each memory I have with you. You had a zest for life that lives on in my "Tait blood" and you will always be an inspiration to me to live a long and healthy and happy life. Words can't really summarize the respect and love I have for you, nor can they do justice to the beautiful person you were inside & out. I love you forever, Leslie. - Posted by: Leslie Warner (Granddaughter) on: Apr 26, 2013

Nana - you truly brought happiness to everyone around you with your bright smile, your cheerful laugh and your wonderful sense of humour. I have precious memories throughout my lifetime of everything we have shared and the wonderful fun times we have had - all of the vacations in Prince George when we were young kids, all of the trips to Winnipeg, your visits to Peachland and Vancouver and all of the Christmases - no one does Christmas quite like the Taits! We love you very much and your memories will live on in all of us as we aspire to accomplish all that you have in your lifetime. All my Love, Shelly - Posted by: Shelly Ahern (Granddaughter) on: Apr 23, 2013

Auntie Maude was a wonderful lady and will be sorely missed. She was the last of that generation of the family, which makes her passing doubly sad. The obituary is truly touching and summarizes Auntie Maude perfectly. Our deepest sympathies to all the family. Ken and Sella - Posted by: Ken and Sella Smith (nephew) on: Apr 21, 2013
