Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVE KUHL Dave died peacefully on April 23, 2013. Dave was predeceased by his wife Kate, his daughter Nancy Lavergne, his parents and his siblings Henry Kuhl, Anne Sawatzky, Sam Kuhl and Ella Bueckert. He will be remembered with love by his children Robert (Sue Cullis-Kuhl), Bev (Carl Pauls) and David (Jean McIntyre), son-in-law Ray Lavergne (friend Carol Shirran), his grandchildren Darcy (Denise), Cory (Carolyn), Katie (Alan), Emma, Lucas, Allison, Jennifer and Sarah, and his great-grandchildren Max, Brook, Taylor, Bryn, Logan, Cadence and Madden. He will also be missed by his brother John, and sister Evelyn, as well as his large extended family all of which was important to him as were his many, many friends. Dave Kuhl was born to Henry and Maria Kuhl, west of Winkler, Manitoba, on April 3, 1920. Four years later he moved with his parents to the village of Gnadenthal, where he spent his growing up years attending school and working on the farm. In 1946 he married Kate Janzen; they moved to a farm near Plum Coulee where they raised their four children and experienced good and difficult times together. After the children left to pursue their own interests they sold the farm and moved to Winkler. At this time Dave was employed at the Valley Rehab, a job he loved and kept for 18 years. When he retired in 1990 Dave and Kate made another change and moved to Winnipeg, downsizing to an apartment and making new friends. They had no trouble adjusting to living at Fort Garry Place, enjoying the sense of community that welcomed them to their new life. Dave spent the past two years at Donwood Manor. He felt at home' there and valued the love and care he received from the staff. He enjoyed the liberty of going for long walks outdoors, listening to his favourite music and encouraging the staff and other residents in their daily tasks. In turn, he was appreciated for his friendliness and service, especially in folding clean laundry, a job that he took very seriously and often kept him busy for many hours every day. Those features characterized his life, serving his church as an usher for many years and a Sunday school teacher and his community. Special thanks to Dave's family physician of many years, Dr. Al Schroeder, to the very caring and attentive staff at Donwood Manor, and to the family and friends who visited him faithfully during his stay at Donwood Manor. The service of celebrating Dave's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 29, at Portage Avenue Church, 1420 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Donations may be made to Donwood Manor Foundation, 171 Donwood Drive, Winnipeg, MB R2G 0V9.

Dave and Kate always welcomed me into their home when I was a teacher in Winkler elementary school and even after my marriage and my two children. They were both always kind and friendly and I really appreciated them both very much. Kate always sent the Christmas letter and birthday greetings, and pictures to keep in touch. They were both great friends! Thank you. - Posted by: Eunice Seney (friend of Kate and Dave) on: Apr 30, 2013

Dear Family: I got to know Dave at Donwood Manor. I often sang with him during the Gospel Hour and we talked about farming. I have enjoyed his company. Dave is home now with his Lord and I thankful for it. With Love, Peter Hochheim - Posted by: Peter Hochheim (Friend) on: Apr 27, 2013
