DAVID MELBOURNE METCALFE David Melbourne Metcalfe, 63, of Steinbach passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, Manitoba. He passed away peacefully with his family at his side. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberley; sons, Sonny and Glenn; grandchildren Kaylee and Judah; his sister Marilyn; niece Jennifer and nephew Erik. He was predeceased by his wife Carrie (March 11, 1969 to June 29, 2003), and his parents Iris and Mel Metcalfe. He loved to collect antiques. He enjoyed music. He loved animals or "critters" as he referred to them. David loved to spend his time outdoors and used to enjoy riding his mini-bike in the open air. As per David's wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Drive in Steinbach on Friday, May 3 at 2:00 p.m. Special thanks to the nurses, doctors and support staff of Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach for the care and compassion that David was given. Also a thank you to all the friends and family that have shown support over this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of David to CancerCare Manitoba at 204-787-4143. Dave is my daughter Kaylee's grandfather. He made me laugh every time we saw each other & always would tell us he's going to take us for cheeseburgers. Sonny & I also used to joke about how he reminds us of Tony Clifton. I only have good memories of Dave & always will.
