Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHRISTINE (CHRISTEL) ALBERTINE HUEGING (nee SEIER) October 9, 1926 - May 13, 2013 After a long, love-filled life Christel, wife, Mother, Oma, Uhr Oma and friend to many passed away peacefully. Christel was born in the Buer, Germany as the second child of Bernhard* Seier and Friederike* (Roth). She and her siblings, Johannes*, Maria (Martin*), Erika*, Heinz (Imgard*), Regina (Hubert), went to live with their uncle on his farm in Raesfeld after their mother's untimely passing. It was in Raesfeld she first met Alfons and in 1952 they decided to immigrate to Canada to begin their new life together. Christel Alfons married November 29, 1952. They started with a mixed farm in Bonnie Doon, MB; moving to Warren, MB in 1970 to focus on dairy farming. Christel and Alfons were blessed with seven children: Karin (Richard), John (Heather), Luke (Kathy), Henry (Debbie), Alfons*, Joe (Tammy), and Ben (Lesley). Over the years, 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren (Sadie, Andrew, Nathan, Konrad, Luke, and Brayden) joined their family. Children, grandchildren and friends benefited from Mom's passions for gardening, wine making, sewing and cooking. She had a great sense of humour and was known to be a creative problem solver. Mom was a founding member of the Catholic Women's League for the Church of Annunciation and played a very active role in all church activities. Her joy for music of all kinds led her to learn how to play the organ well enough to be the organist at church for many years. Even though Alzheimer's robbed her of her memory for many things, her joy and love of music and song continued right to the end. Prayers will be held on Thursday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m. and the funeral service to celebrate her life will be Friday, May 17 at 11:00 a.m. in the Church of Annunciation in Woodlands, MB, Pallbearers are grandsons Conrad (Holly), Garret (Jen), Josh (Kayla), Richard (Alex), William, Alfons, Kevin (Lynnette) and Ryland. Honorary pallbearers are the granddaughters Marie (Bryce), Danelle, Katrina, Katy, Alanna, Tara (Kurt), Meagan (Jeremy) and Hayley. Thank you to all who visited and helped make her life an enjoyable one. Special thanks to those who helped make her last days comfortable. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community. Donations in her name may be made to the Church of Annunciation (care of J. Marshall, Box 117, Woodlands, MB R0C 3H0, or to The Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. MACKENZIE FUNERAL HOME STONEWALL (204) 467-2525 mackhome@mts.net

We have wonderful, fond memories of your Mom, Oma, Uhr Oma(Oma to Flori, Adi and Brett too!) her garden, her sense of humour, contagious laugh, and her stories. To us she made the most of life's ups and downs and trust she held fond memories that comforted her when she was so ill. With love from the Smalls. - Posted by: The Smalls (Family friends) on: May 17, 2013
