Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • In the summer of 1975, my two small children and I celebrated my graduation from college in Hawaii with a trip across Canada from west to east. To our dismay, our VW bus suddenly gave out in what seemed like the empty and endless plains of Manitoba. We stood on the side of the road for some time, praying for help. By God's grace, from far off came a man with a car full of children. They stopped and asked if we needed help. We said we were stranded. After quickly determining that the transmission would need replacing, this man, who said he was Don Friesen, said that God must have wanted him to be a rescuer that day, as one of the children in the back seat had almost drowned that afternoon. He shepherded us into his big car and took us to his home, where Thelma and their girls welcomed us and sheltered us for several days. We shared meals, went to a town celebration and prayed together every night. My children and I never forgot their kindness. We cherish our two pictures of the family. We tell the grandchildren and great-grandchildren to trust in God, even in the most trying of times ~~ because his angels are everywhere to answer our prayers. - Posted by: Joan Bruce (Friend of Family ) on: Feb 27, 2019
