ALICE VARIS Loving, caring, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, role model, compassionate, humorous, kind and energetic, she was all of these and more. Surrounded by family, Alice left this world on May 28, 2013 after a brief illness to join her loved ones including lifelong husband, Dave; her mother, Elizabeth (Lizzy) Weinberger (nee Harper) and stepfather, Alex Weinberger; brothers and sisters; aunts and uncles, and all those who awaited her. She leaves behind her loving children David (Sally), Rob (Tarra) and Ray (Janet), brother-in-law Paul, many relatives, and countless others whom she admired and brightened her day. Alice raised her three boys before heading back to work with Upjohn Healthcare Services after returning to Winnipeg following her husband's military service. Alice enjoyed outings like no other and rarely missed a day at the mall. When not there, she spent time in person or on the telephone with family, including grandchildren Crystal, Amanda, Jenelle, Davin, Morgan, and Michael, and all her close friends. The family would like to thank Unit 6A staff at Saint Boniface Hospital, the compassionate and kind staff at Poseidon Care Centre who took care of Alice's every need during her brief stay, and Rev. Teresa Moysey of the Harrow United Church, who prepared the way for Alice to enter into God's Kingdom. Cremation has taken place. A service for family and friends will be held at St. Clement's Anglican Church Cemetery - Mapleton, Selkirk, MB at a later date. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and ever more. (A short passage found in Alice's mother's bible.)
