ELLA DYCK (nee SCHLICHTING) With her family by her side, Ella passed into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, June 13, 2013. After a courageous battle with cancer, Mom succumbed to the disease with dignity. Ella is survived by her husband Henry, her children Norm (Nancy), Ken (Merle), Shirley Enns (John) and Anthony (Karen); her grandchildren Laura (J.P.), Cameron (Katherin), Evan, Dale (Brad), Russell (Sara), Richard (Brandi), Farrah, Kari, Nikolas, Joel, Rachel. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters Bill (Ester), Henry (Nellie), Bertha (Alfred), Trudy, Anne, Adolph (Betty). A special thank you to the wonderful and caring nurses at Carman Hospital. Your kindness and compassion for mom during her stay was heartfelt. Donations may be made in mom's memory to Colon Cancer / CancerCare Manitoba. Memorial service will be held at Springstein Church, Springstein, Manitoba on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Melissa Millar. Private family interment will have taken place. I just wanted to express my sympathy to your family at this time of great loss. I missed the announcement or I would have been at the memorial service. I understand it was a great tribute to Ella. It was my pleasure to meet Mrs. Dyck through Shirley who was my roommate when I was attending MCI. She was always a very gracious lady who always welcomed me when spending a weekend in Springstein. I'll always remember Ella as a happy teenage girl when her family opened their Sanford home to us in 1951. Ella's father, my Uncle Martien, sponsored my family's move to Canada from Germany.
