JOHN REIMER It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John, in his 86th year, on Friday, June 28, 2013. Much beloved husband of Helen, for 63 years. Loving father of Colleen (George) Cotton and Mark (Shauna) Reimer. Cherished grandfather of Caitlin, Spencer, and Maeve. Dear brother of Anne Funk and the late Jake Reimer and Diedrich Reimer. Special uncle and great-uncle of many. John was born in Altona where he completed his schooling and worked as an accountant for Co-Op Vegetable Oils from 1948 to 1953. He enjoyed the company of family and friends, proudly extolling the achievements of his children and grandchildren at every opportunity. John was an excellent carpenter and accomplished in the art of marquetry, giving away hundreds of his creations to family and friends. A special thanks to the 5th Floor South staff of the Victoria General Hospital for their care and attention. Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I only today learned of John's passing. I worked closely with John over a few years in the 1970s, part of my own 38 years with CRA. I had the privilege of travelling a few times with John for our work and I can say it was rare to meet anyone as humble and kind as he was, calm regardless of the circumstances. He taught me all I ever needed to know about Lombardy poplars! His wisdom and spirituality were inspiring! - Posted by: Robert Way (Work colleague) on: Aug 28, 2021

  • I was so sorry to hear about John's passing from Martha (Mert) last evening. It was such a pleasure to see you both at Elden's memorial service last summer. 63 years married what a great time you must have had, we are reaching 56 and hope for many more. - Posted by: Irma & Jamie MacDonald (friends) on: Jul 23, 2013

Though we cannot attend the services on Friday ..at the appropriate time here in Santiago, we will go to the Cathedral Mercede near us and offer our prayers for you and yours and John's families .. heaven knows John does not need more he rests now ..
