Born: Sep 08, 1930
Date of Passing: Jul 04, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH ANN DAVIS (nee GORDON) It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Elizabeth Ann Davis. "Betty" as she was lovingly known was born September 8, 1930 in Dingwall, Scotland, departed this life and entered into the arms of Jesus on July 4, 2013, with her family by her side. Betty leaves to mourn her son Fraser (Carla), grandchildren Colin, Lauren, Michael and Mathew; daughter Iona (David), grandchildren, Danielle (Richard), great-granddaughter Sarah, and Michelle and great-grandson Miles; and daughter Lesley (Darrell), grandchildren Benjamin (Katlynd), Ashley and Jordan. Betty was an independent and determined woman who immigrated to Winnipeg in 1957 to start a new life. Betty was a pioneer of her time in that she was a single parent raising her children instilling in them her deep value of education and hard work. Betty was a hard worker and a fast learner. Betty worked for the University of Manitoba as an Administrative Assistant for the Department of Anesthesia for 25 years. She was a fun loving mother and friend who knew how to liven up the room with her sharp wit and humour. The door of Betty's home was always open and she never knew a stranger. She made fast friends with everyone. Betty was a gifted and eloquent conversationalist who attracted friends everywhere she went. She was highly sociable. Betty was a member of the West End Senior's Centre, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and Member of the St. James Legion #4. She was honoured as she was just recently commemorated on her 1000 hours of volunteer service at the Deer Lodge Centre where she would play the piano to lift the spirits of those around her. She also played cards with the patients and entertained both staff and patients with her humour and playful attitude. What is a mother? Other people will love you. Only your mother understands. She loves you, nurtures you, watches you grow. Forgives you, corrects you, and offers you support. Always there when you need her. There for each milestone, victory, or defeat. Time slips away, age takes its toll. To take a life so sweet. A special thank you to Dr. Lamba, the Health Sciences Centre Emergency Room nurses, Clark Gallagher (her home care nurse), and the nurses on B3 at Health Sciences Centre for their care and compassion during this time. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice. A private family service will be held. Interment will be held in Scotland.

The memorial service a wonderful tribute to your mom...my mom's friend. Many happy memories of them sitting together, with Aunt Betty's infectious deep laugh, and impish twinkle in her eyes. Bob also sends his condolences. Keeping you all close in thoughts and prayers. - Posted by: Rae Anne Paxton ("adopted' Family friend) on: Jul 09, 2013

Sorry for the loss of your dear mother/grandmother. I have fond memories of your mom dating back to high school and most recently last summer. She was a strong woman who raised her children to be the same. May she rest in peace. Be strong for each other. - Posted by: Eileen Perillo (Friend of Family) on: Jul 08, 2013

My condolences to the family on the passing of your dear mother. I have known your mother to be a very spirited woman with a welcoming heart. I have fond memories of her dating back to when we were in high school and to our most recent time at the race track last year.
