GEORGE FLEES After a brief illness on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Holy Family Home, George Flees aged 90 years old. George was born November 16, 1922 and was raised in East Kildonan on Larsen Avenue, residing there until he entered Holy Family Home in June 2008. He started work for CNR in August, 1941 and after 41 years, retired in 1982. He was a lifelong member of the Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church. George is survived by three sisters, Mary (Min), Catherine (Kay), Sonya (Guelph, ON); nieces, Carol (Dennis), Virginia (John), and Patti; nephew, Douglas (Mississauga); grand-nieces and nephews, Lisa, Sean and Kyla Tomlinson, Douglas (Connie, and son Evan) and Margret (Kevin, son Conor and daughter Katie). He was predeceased by parents, Peter and Anna (Preweda); brother, Michael; sister-in-law Florence; brothers-in-law, Peter and Joe; and nephew Gary. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 19 at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Munroe Avenue at Watt Street with Rev. Dr. M. Kwiatkowski officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
