Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDARIA HOLOWCZAK (nee SZWED) May 13, 1929 - July 20, 2013 Suddenly, but peacefully at Holy Family Nursing Home our Mama, Baba, Pra Baba and Auntie passed away at the age of 84 on July 20, 2013. Daria was born in the village of Urich in Western Ukraine on May 13, 1929 to Maria and Simon Szwed. Before immigrating to Canada with her sister Rosalia on September 14, 1950, she lived and worked in Germany and England. Daria was predeceased by her husband Michael of 57 years in 2010, parents, sister Rosalia, brothers Bohdan and Myroslaw and is now reunited with them. To mourn her passing she leaves behind her children: daughter Irene Luciw, son Robert, grandchildren: Roman, Mike, Kim and Brandi, great-grandson: Qwentin, and many nieces and nephews who will remember and miss her very much. Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 25 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 26 at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 115 McGregor St. with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Mitrat M. Buyachok officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Terry Babick and the wonderful staff of St. Mary's Ward at Holy Family for the love and care they provided mama during the past one and a half years. In lieu of flowers, if you so choose, donations can be made in Daria's memory to Holy Family Home or the SSMI Lubov Foundation. The ones we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Please accept my heartfelt sympathies at this time. Always looked forward to visiting with your Mother and I always got her to smile and have a laugh.
