• I loved, and still do love Betty (or Grandma Betty, as I called her). Even nearly half a year later, I vividly remember my mom crying as she walked in our house and saying, between sobs, "There was an accident." The words that would later make me nearly more emotional than I had been in my entire life. My mom and Margie are good friends, and my mom stood by the family during that difficult time. I did not really know what someone dying meant, as no one close to me had died before that fatal day. With time I have let go but I have never forgotten. • We were in Kelowna when we heard the devastating news. It was difficult to accept that this fun loving lady was taken away from us so tragically. To hear that a nurse was at the scene was comforting. • "You make me laugh" This was a constant phrase from Betty, she truly loved life and her family and friends and Texas. Nothing pleased her more than to share time & stories with those around her. • I met Betty at work at L du B Health Centre. She treated all her clients with respect. The one I remember most is the hobo who came in for his monthly bath. I'm sure he came back because she treated him like a king. We could smell him throughout the clinic but Betty was right in there cleaning him up. She was a gem.
