Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN ROZECKI With great sadness the family of John Rozecki, aged 82 years of Riverton, MB, announces his passing on Friday, July 19, 2013. John will be forever missed by his wife of 47 years, Anne, and their children Lance (Sandy), Boyd (Sherry), Crystal (Patrick) Kennedy, and grandchildren Lane, Brandon, Drew, Blair, Kailyn and Bryce. He is survived by his sister Mary Nelson of Lethbridge, AB, brother Dr. William (Gladys) Rozecki of Surrey, BC, mother-in-law Jean Lupky, brother-in-law Joe (Olga) Lupky, sister-in-law Katherine (Tony) Deneka, and numerous nieces and nephews in whom he took great pride in. John is predeceased by his parents Alexander and Anne Rozecki, his sister Rose Baydock and brother-in-law John Baydock, brother-in-law Cyril Nelson and father-in-law Michael Lupky. He also leaves behind to mourn his best friend "brother" Stanley Bonkowski (Fjiola). John was born December 18, 1930 in Malonton, MB. He graduated from high school in Teulon and moved to Riverton in 1950 where he farmed and drove truck. In Riverton, at a New Years Dance, he met the love of his life and they were married in 1966. He took on many ventures in the early years such as school bus driving and clearing land. Together, he and Anne developed their skills as business owners and entrepreneurs and successfully owned and operated businesses in Riverton for over 35 years, including a restaurant, a garage (Central Service) and a car wash. After retirement he took a dream job, marshalling on the Hecla Golf Course, a course he had years earlier cleared brush and helped build. Here, he could pass his days outdoors, where he loved to be, and talk to people, which he loved to do. John loved to talk and joke, making him the Master of Ceremonies for numerous weddings and occasions. He loved to serve and build his community acting on numerous boards such as Pool Elevator, Riverton Credit Union, Riverton Curling Club, Neicom and Evergreen School Division. He was instrumental in bringing the first ambulance to Riverton and serving as a driver for many years. He was an active member of Masons and made many friends. John loved to travel and although he didn't get to go to all the places he dreamed of seeing, he did go to Cuba, Hawaii, Scotland, London, Puerto Rico and made many trips to the US and all over Canada. John was an avid reader, loving biographies and history. Despite his busy life, John always found time for his children and grandchildren. Family was the most important to him and no special occasion was celebrated without being surrounded by family and food. The family would like to thank the staff of Gimli Hospital and Tudor House for taking such excellent care of him over the past couple of years. Thank you to all friends and family who visited and offered their support to the family through these difficult times. A celebration of John's life will be held at the Riverton Community Hall on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society, 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. We will forever miss your beautiful smile and the gleam in your eyes. MACKENZIE FUNERAL HOME STONEWALL (204) 467-2525 mackhome@mts.net

ALL of my best childhood memories were spent at the home of my Uncle John & Auntie Ann, with my cousins Crytal, Boyd & Lance, and their various friends, family & neighbors etc. Uncle John made a deep impression on me as a young girl, and as bratty as I was back then, I didn't want to push my luck and not be able to get invited back the next summer. I admired Uncle John's way of listening to people when they spoke, and how he always took time to hear you. That is a rare quality in this day & age. He is my Dad's older brother, and there were times I wondered if he were younger, because of his playfulness and love of a funny story. The last time I saw my Uncle John, was at a party in Lethbridge Alberta, a few years ago, it turned out to be quite the family reunion. After the party, there was a get together in a hospitality suite, and after a few glasses of wine, I started to sing. My Uncle John was sitting near me, and kept exclaiming "wow, you can sing! I didn't know you could sing!". He requested I sing more, so I did. The simple pleasure of sharing this gift with him, and my family made me proud. It is something I will always remember too. My Mom, Dad (Gladys & Bill Rozecki) and sister Cathy are travelling to Riverton to attend Uncle John's service, and unfortunately I am unable, through a shortage of people at work, which breaks my heart. If there was a person I'd love to show my respects for it would be him, and for my Auntie Ann, and their family. I would have offered to sing him a final song, and my Auntie Ann advised he would have loved that. I regret not being able to see Uncle John recently, but will always have good memories to look back on. I am there in spirit, and send love and support to you all. We remember John and his family for the love of family. We stayed at their home during a family reunion. He seemed to be very busy, enjoying his job and liked being around the family that came from all over the country to be at the unforgettable family reunion. Much love to Annie and the children. He was a super cousin. Very kind and very caring. Very sorry for your loss. Prayers go out to you at this time. Know that he is at another family reunion in heaven. - Posted by: Violet Sponchia (nee Bemko) Kuzma side (cousin) on: Jul 29, 2013
