DAYLAN SHEA DAMIANAKOS-MARSHALL On April 25, 1991 a true Spartan was born into this modern world; his name, Daylan Shea Damianakos. He was of pure spirit, a proud and courageous Greek warrior. Daylan was the superhero and protector to his brothers Braedan and Tiernan, and cousins Jasmin and Taylor. In Grade 2 he met his best friend Cory who would become his lifelong friend. He valued their friendship and enjoyed celebrating their birthdays on the same day. Constant sources in Daylan's life were his papou Gus and auntie Eileen and grandparents Leona and Gerry. His brothers Braedan and Tiernan who found a joy in their love for video and card games. Fond memories include Daylan and Braedan going to the EX with their dad and going on the slingshot ride. Once his baby brother Tiernan was old enough the three would enjoy a love for roller coasters; fond memory being a trip to Valley Fair with their mom. Daylan attended Maples Collegiate graduating in 2009. It was here he developed a love for track and field, being a star player in discus and shotput. He won many medals - the highlight being bringing home the gold from competing in the Manitoba Games. Daylan was loved by his teachers and peers for he had the most sincere heart. Daylan went on to return to Maples Collegiate the following September entering into the culinary program; as he had a great passion for creating fine cuisine. All who knew him knew his great love for food (stemming from teething on a T-bone steak). In March 2010 our world was changed. Our beloved Daylan was diagnosed with leukemia. With his devoted mother by his side the battle started. After two years of treatments he gained a remission. In January 2013 Daylan relapsed. During this time, in true Spartan fashion, he would go on to face this with a fierce determination. Daylan fought a hard battle but our boy was tired. Peacefully with his loving father Billy holding him in his arms, his loving mother Kathi, loving brothers Braedan and Tiernan all by his side; he was called by God at 4:45 a.m., August 7, 2013 to enter Heaven's Kingdom. Daylan was predeceased by his grandmother (yiayia) Stavroula and his uncle Chris Marshall. He is survived and will be greatly missed by his loving mother Kathi, loving father Billy (Tina), loving brothers Braedan and Tiernan, loving grandparents Gus (Eileen), Leona and Gerry Marshall, auntie Karren (Doug), uncle Kevin (Tammy), auntie Angie (John), first cousins Jasmin and Taylor, and best buds Cory and Michael, as well as numerous aunties, uncles, cousins and extended family and friends. Funeral Service was held Friday, August 9 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church and Daylan was laid to rest in Brookside Cemetery. In memory of Daylan, a Charitable Organization will be created. Never forgotten, forever missed, love you today, tomorrow and forever.

  • Today the sun rises through the range as we picture Daylan's sweet smiling face amongst the angels, no longer in pain. It is us who are left behind that must deal with considerable pain and loss we feel. We can take comfort in knowing God has other plans for Daylan, and one day we will see him again. One thing is for certain, you have taught us not to take life for granted but to enjoy and -embrace our lives because we are not guaranteed a tomorrow. We love you Daylan. We remember Daylan with a big gigantic heart, he was always so sweet and so kind to everyone. We will miss your presence greatly, your voice, your smile and the many many big wrap around bear hugs you gave us. • Its so hard to let you go. you were not only my son but my best friend. I was your mother but you my protector. You had to face this battle, I promised to be by your side wishing I could take this battle away from you I thought we could make. It just one more hurdle to jump over but the will to keep fighting though those hurdles became harder and harder the pain and agony of what it was doing to you and me not being able to take away this pain for you was too much for you to bear. Yes I hate to watch you suffer but I always had hoped you would succeed because there was no other option in my mind LOVE could cure all. It couldn't and it didn't and I let my baby down. I love you son more than life itself I begged God to take me but they wanted you Daylan they wanted you to come to your true destiny somewhere without pain and sorrow and disease so he could be the man you were meant to be brave warrior, protector, pure soul I love you and everyday before I go to sleep or before I wake it is you who I say good morning or good night too I love you my sweet Angel till we meet again....with all my love and heart - Posted by: kathleen marshall (mother) on: Aug 17, 2013

  • Daylan, your time here was obviously faaar too short - yet somehow you managed to make Earth a better place for some 21 years - thank you for that!!!! To my dear dear friends Kathi and Kevin and of course the entire family - my deepest and most heartfelt sympathy to you all. It is from YOUR deep and endearing love that Daylan fought as hard and as long as he did. It is that same amazing love that will now grace you all with the will to continue on. Celebrate his life every day as he lives on with each of you. Laugh when you look into one another's eyes as he will be laughing with you. Daylan's physical being may no longer be here but his Warrior Spirit and profound greatness will remain in each and everyone of you - cherish that and rejoice that you lived with him as you did. Take solace that his pain is now gone and that he will now soar above you - your personal Angel will always watch, guide and teach you forever more. Much love to you all. Kathi although years may separate us - love has always kept you in my heart and mind. Peace may you find xoxo - Posted by: Shirly Rubiletz (Family Friend) on: Aug 15, 2013
