MELVILLE (MEL) SIDNEY CHATFIELD With great sorrow and heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Mel Sidney Chatfield on Thursday, August 22, 2013. Mel will be forever remembered by his loving wife of 64 years Helen, daughter Deborah and husband Blair MacAulay, granddaughters Kate MacAulay and Justina Cruikshank, son Al Chatfield and Cherie, grandson Dustin Chatfield and granddaughter Ashley Chatfield. He is also survived by his sister Olive Atkins and husband Tom, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mum and dad, his sisters Betty O'Connor and Jessica Borger, daughter-in-law Lynne Chatfield, as well as many of Helen's brothers and sisters. Mel worked for Air Canada for 33 years and Standard Aero for 10 years. Dad loved fishing, hunting, working around the house and yard, playing cards, walking with Mom and most of all, family gatherings. They also enjoyed travelling overseas and the United States. Dad will always be remembered as a true gentleman, a man of great wit and showing respect for all people. Following Dad's wishes, there will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. We love you Dad, Always.
