LUCY MARIA DELUCA It is with deepest sorrow that the family of Lucy Maria DeLuca announce her unexpected passing on September 3, 2013, at the St. Boniface Hospital, after a brief illness. Lucy is predeceased by her parents Angelina and Anthony DeLuca. She is survived by two sisters Mary Barbeau (John) and her family, daughter Susan Thibeault (Jacque) and Emilie, and son Paul Barbeau; Margaret Dowling (Ronald) and her family, daughter Pam Roberts and Shane Roberts, and son Terry Dowling; and one brother Robert DeLuca (Pam) and his family, son Christopher DeLuca (Cassandra) and Dominec, and daughter Laura Kaun (Richard) and Olivia and Elliott. Lucy is also survived by her dearest lifelong friend and travelling companion Flora Gareau, and many other dear friends and extended family. At the age of 19, Lucy was involved in an automobile accident that resulted in her becoming a paraplegic. She spent one year of recovery in Deer Lodge Hospital. This situation never stopped Lucy from fulfilling her every goal in life: owning her own apartment, driving her own car, travelling the world, full-time employment and mentoring new paras. She enjoyed travelling, petite point, music, reading, and especially spending time at the family cabin at Great Falls near the Gareau family. After her accident, Lucy worked for Corby's Distilleries in the Head Office, then National Drugs where she and Flora became fast friends, and 27 years at the Canadian Paraplegic Society until her retirement in 1994. Funeral mass will take place at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue, at 10:00 a.m., September 10, 2013. Cremation has taken place. Floral arrangements are gratefully declined. If you wish, memorial donations may be sent to the Canadian Paraplegic Association (Manitoba) Inc., 825 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5. • So saddened to hear of Lucy's passing. She was the rock of the office at CPA. Her wonderful smile greeted everyone who came to the office. But you couldn't fool Lucy, like a mother, she was great at sniffing out any BS from staff or clients. Goodbye Lucy. - Posted by: Allen Lasko (Client and former colleague from CPA) on: Sep 07, 2013
