EDDY HERBERT DORSCH June 11, 1959 - September 6, 2013 It is with enormous sadness that the family announce the passing of Eddy Herbert Dorsch, 54, of Winnipeg, Manitoba on September 6, 2013 at the Health Sciences Centre. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Herbert and Hilda Dorsch, he lived most of his life splitting time between Winnipeg and Woodlands. Eddy was an extremely strong and stubborn man, which worked in his favour when he was diagnosed with Squamish Cell Carcinoma in 2005. He refused to give in and underwent treatment in order to survive so that he could spend more time with his children. Eddy was very competitive and enjoyed playing poker very much, with dreams of one day playing in the World Series of Poker. In his earlier years he liked to get together with friends and family to play cards. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting as well as reading and watching television (mostly history, sci-fi, and more recently reality television). Eddy will be unexplainably missed and was extraordinarily loving and proud of his three sons, Christopher Dorsch of Gimli, Mark Dorsch and Trent Dorsch, both of Winnipeg. He is also survived by his baby sister Ramona Dorsch of Warren, brother David Dorsch, and oldest brother Rolf and his wife Sharon Dorsch, all of Woodlands, as well as his nieces Kyla Dorsch, Kristin Dorsch, Katelyn Dorsch, and Abbigail Dorsch, along with many other friends and family. The family will be receiving friends on Friday, September 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Home, 433 Main Street in Stonewall, Manitoba, followed by a celebration of Eddy's life where he requested drinks be served at the Stonewall Legion, 459 Main St. MACKENZIE FUNERAL HOME STONEWALL (204) 467-2525 mackhome@mts.net

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • My thoughts go out to Ed's family and friends during this difficult time. I have some fond memories of working with Ed during our time in the Berens River and Bloodvein communities. He always had his way of doing things and he could be stubborn at times, but he was a good man with a big heart. - Posted by: Graeme Hayward (Friend and Co-worker) on: Sep 13, 2013

  • Eddy and I had a lot of good times together, going back to our high school days at John Taylor. Eddy got a bunch of us guys some of our first jobs painting playground equipment at Dorsch Iron Works. One of my most memorable times with Eddy was our 2 week bus trip down to New Orleans during Life Week. Eddy came out to Vancouver to visit me a number of times in the early 80’s. I would travel around with him as he made sales stops selling Dorwood wood stoves. Seeing his entrepreneurial spirit was very infectious, and I really enjoyed watching his success. Eddy was a hard working, fun-loving guy, and I enjoyed my time with him always. Lots of good times and good memories, which I will never forget. My sincere condolences to the entire Dorsch family, and to Cindy who I’ve known for as long as I’ve known Eddy. I’m sorry I am not able to attend his service on Friday, but I will be there in spirit for sure. Al Tufts - Posted by: Al Tufts (Friend) on: Sep 11, 2013

  • We had many of a good time Ed back along time ago. Sad that for some reasons we get busy with our own lives and friendships seem to dwindle over time. But you will always be considered a good friend and bud. Rest peacefully pal and have a couple cold ones on the other side. - Posted by: Don (Friend ) on: Sep 11, 2013
