Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY ROSE PENNER The family announces with sadness the passing of Mary Rose Penner on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Hank on September 12, 1991. She is survived by her sisters, Lena Boss and Heather Guenther of Wetaskiwin, Alberta. Mary was born in Horndean, Manitoba on October 25, 1929 to Nick and Mary Neufeld. Mary attended school in Plum Coulee, Manitoba, completed all the grades offered there and attended one year at the Mennonite Collegiate Institute in Gretna, Manitoba. She was employed in the office of Canadian Linen for 43 years. In 1955, Mary married Henry (Hank) Penner and they began farming in Petersfield, Manitoba. After Hanks passing, Mary remained on the farm for several years and in 2009 moved to Teulon Gateway Manor where she remained until her passing. Throughout Mary's life she had a love of cats, feeding many stray cats and adopting some over the years. She was the best cat sitter this side of heaven. Hank and Mary were well known in the area for their musical talents, harmonizing, with Mary playing the piano and Hank playing the guitar or violin. A celebration of Mary's life will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Teulon Centennial Hall. A private family burial will take place prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 0R3 or the Health Sciences Centre, 820 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1R9. We will long for her smiling face, her warmth and kindness, her light-hearted sense of humour and her easily given friendship. The family thanks all the staff of Teulon Memorial Hospital for their loving care during Mary's many stays. MACKENZIE FUNERAL HOME TEULON (204) 467-2525 mackhome@mts.net
