NICK RYCHLICKI Peacefully with family at his side, Nick Rychlicki, aged 92, passed away on September 25, 2013, at Seven Oaks General Hospital. Nick will be sadly missed by sister Pearl Lacko; brothers Mike (Sandra) and John; nieces Cathy (Ken), Jeanette; and nephews Larry (Loral), Wayne (Ramona), Brian (Irene); together with numerous great-nephews and friends. Nick was predeceased by parents Peter and Teenie Rychlicki, brother Charlie and sister Mary Chikowski. Nick was born in Silver, MB, on September 11, 1925, and was raised on the family homestead. His early working years were spent in bush camps and road construction. He returned home to work the family farm with his father. Together they ran a successful mixed farm until 1976 when Nick moved to Winnipeg. He then worked for the City of Winnipeg as a gardener at Kildonan Park until his retirement in 1986. He then enjoyed travelling and attending social functions with his close friend Mary Kowalchuk. He still maintained the family homestead which was awarded Century Farm recognition in 2009. Nick was easy going, generous and kind. Always quick with a laugh, he was proud of his pioneer heritage. He was fond of his nieces and nephews and enjoyed attending family functions. We would like to thank the staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital, Fifth Floor, Unit One, for their compassionate care of Nick. Pallbearers will be Larry Lacko, Evan Lacko, Wayne Lacko, Nick Lacko, Brian Rychlicki and Kevin Rychlicki. Funeral service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 30, 2013. Interment to follow at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Silver, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nick's memory to Cancer Care Manitoba or in support of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Silver, MB. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Dear Pearl, Larry, Wayne and Families, My Deepest Sympathy in the Loss of Nick. I first met Nick back in 1967/68 when my family moved across the road in Silver and always admired him. When I bought my house in the city we lived a block away and I would see him every day going for his walk around the block even at 91 years old and I would wish I had the energy he did. Rest in Peace Nick - Posted by: Judy Barnych(Wilchuk) (Friend/Neighbour) on: Sep 28, 2013
