RAJ NARAIN SHARMA, M.D. After a short illness, Dr. Raj Narain Sharma passed away peacefully with his family by his side at St. Boniface Hospital on the evening of September 29, 2013. His family was his pride and joy and his happiest memories were the times he spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He cherished the family vacations to Kauai, golfing with his sons, and family dinners filled with love and laughter. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Raj is survived by his wife Flordeliza, daughter Gigi (John), sons Rajiva (Meaghan) and Shiva (Mimi), and grandchildren Colin, Juliana, Kai, Callie, and Sheraya. Raj was a dedicated family physician. Along with his private practice in the Medical Arts Building, he was an Attending Physician, the Staff Health Physician and the Assistant Medical Director at the Winnipeg Municipal Hospital (now Riverview Health Centre) for many years before retiring in 2000. The family would like to thank the Home Care staff that assisted him at home and the nurses and doctors at St. Boniface Hospital, particularly the staff on 6E, who cared for him during his final days. Always a humble man, there will be no service at his request and cremation has taken place. His career was devoted to caring for his patients and so in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Riverview Health Centre Foundation in his memory.

I have many fond memories growing up in Winnipeg with the Sharmas: I used to babysit for young Gigi, Raj and Shiva, for Auntie Flor and Uncle Raj. One evening, Shiva was arguing he wanted two pieces of cake, So Uncle Raj (in front of Shiva) took the one cake and cut it in half and said " here are two pieces"... and Shiva walked off..quite content. He had the kindest soul. We'll miss you Uncle Raj - Posted by: Juliana (Bigornia) & John Dahlin (friends) on: Nov 15, 2013
