MARY LESCHYSHYN (nee POTOSKI) Peacefully, with her family by her side, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother and Baba on October 5, 2013 at the Arborg and District Hospital. Mary will be sadly missed by her sons Lawrence (Georgina), Marvin (Diane), Michael (Marie), Dennis (Lorna), Fred, and Andy (Kim); daughters Deanna Leschyshyn (Merv), Angela Mehling (Lorne), and Lorraine Masinda (Bill); grandchildren Beau, Lars (Michelle), Lynette (Dave), Ryan (Amanda), Elise (Eric), Derek (Kim), Jason, Tim, Laurie (Paul), Tamara, Nathan (Janet), and Jessica; brothers Mike, Harry, Sam, and Victor; sisters Pearl Parada, Eva Luksic, Nellie Bartecki, and Josie Isfjord; along with many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews. Mary was predeceased by her husband Andrew; parents Andrew and Ann; brothers Peter, Steve, and Billy; sisters Dora, Jennie, Katie, and Rosie. Mom was born December 17, 1925 in the Hnausa area, the eldest of her family. She married dad at the age of 19, and they moved to the Leschyshyn family farm in 1944. Together they raised their nine children. Mom spent many years working at the Saint Benedicts Manor and the Arborg Personal Care Home. In 1986, mom and dad moved into their "dream house" where she remained until now, along with her pet cat. Mom was a wonderful cook. Perhaps partly due to having raised such a large family, she always made sure the fridge and freezer were fully stocked, in case family or friends stopped by. Mom enjoyed spending evenings listening to polka party on the radio or heading to the casino with her family. She dearly loved gardening and tending to her flowers. Mom also had a great sense of humour and could often be heard laughing. The family would like to extend their thanks to the doctors, nurses, and support staff at the Arborg & District Hospital. Thank you to Joanne Borgfjord for your assistance these past few years. And thank you to all our friends who have comforted us during this time. A Celebration of Mary's life will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Arborg on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place at St. John's Cemetery, Silver. Lunch to follow. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Arborg Personal Care Home. Vichnaya Pamyat MACKENZIE FUNERAL HOME ARBORG (204) 467-2525 mackhome@mts.net
