CAPT. LEONARD EARLAND SETTEE (RTD.) March 26, 1931- October 9, 2013 It is with great sorrow we announce Earland's passing at Gimli Community Health centre on October 9, 2013 at 8:30 p.m. He was born at Birch Point on Lake Winnipeg and grew upon the Lake and made his living on the freighters of the Lake. He also spent many years on the Riverboats along the Red River, on the Mackenzie River and on the Beaufort Sea. He is survived by his wife Patricia (Pat) nee Unrau, his son Carman and four grandchildren Shannon, Veronica, Freya, and Karl; four sisters Elsie Monkman, Pat (Ken) Thomas, Eleanor Prince, and Stella (Dennis) Grove; three brothers Martin (Irene), Mervin and Glenn and their families. "Blessed are they that go down to the sea in Ships for they shall see the wonders of the deep" Psalm 107:23 Evening viewing and prayers will be held Tuesday, October 15 at 7:00-8:00 p.m. at Bayview Evangelical Free Church, 8 South Colonization Road, Gimli. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Mennonite Church, 465 Stafford Street, Winnipeg, with viewing prior. Interment to follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
