Our condolences to Mary's family. I was so sad to hear of your loss. I have many fond memories of Mary. I grew up next door to the Marpat Inn, or Mary's, we used to call it. When my brother Lonney and I were small children, if Mom couldn't find us at home, she knew we would be next door at the restaurant visiting with Mary and Auntie Helma, hoping to get a taste of pie or treats. I remember Mary, always dressed very professionally in her black skirt or black dress pants and white blouse. She was always smiling and so good to us kids. She taught me how to operate the telephone switchboard, so when it would get busy when the bus stopped, I would help out. I also remember helping to wash dishes and pick up after the bus left. She sure had a lot of patience with us kids. She was a wonderful lady and will be sadly missed. - Posted by: Melanie Thompson-Gonczy (Family friend/ neighbor in Piney) on: Oct 17, 2013

She used to make the best cheeseburgers & apple pie & she always treated us kids with respect. I've run into her many times thru the years in St. Vital & it was always great having a chat with her. - Posted by: Sonia (Yeryk) Cook (Friend) on: Oct 15, 2013
