In High school meeting you was great, lunch breaks going to 7-11 with rod and the crew. I’ll be honest anytime I even go to a 7-11 if im in BC or Alberta I still think about those times. A few times we watched movies at your place after school. You’ll always be missed no matter the years. Cheers bro. - Posted by: Dalton Malazdrewicz (Friend) on: May 25, 2023

I had a very special bond with Joe growing up. Many of the things that I love today he showed me. We never saw each other as uncle and nephew, but as brothers. I remember always having sleepovers at my grandmas house with Joe. We used to do reanactments of our favorite lightsaber duels, it was a tradition for us to watch WWE wrestling together, we even had pillow fights. He lit up the whole room with his presence. I idolized Joe. He was and still is my hero. Although part of me wishes that he was still here with me, i will never forget him and the great times that i had with him. Every day, i try to find parts of joe so that i have a piece of him every day. I love you so much brother. I miss u so much - Posted by: Ben Massey (Nephew) on: Oct 16, 2015

Joey litterally had the most gorgeous smile anyone had ever seen. Even not knowing him too well just seeing him walk down the hall with that smile could put a smile on anyone's face Thank you for that smile Joey Rest In Peace - Posted by: Maya (Peer) on: Oct 19, 2013

I didn't know Joey super well, but I do remember attending school with him for four years. He was the funniest kid I've ever met, and his smile was ALMOST as big as his heart. We mainly connected in gym, and in the hallway when we would joke about how we couldn't reach anything in our lockers cause we were both so short. I know another friend of ours, Amber, saw him as a little brother. This is the saddest thing, to see such a genuine, loving, caring young man be taken way too soon. So glad he had the years that he did though, for he surely blessed MANY hearts, including mine. - Posted by: Sarah-Kate (Friend/Peer) on: Oct 16, 2013

Joseph was a very bright light at Miles Macdonell Collegiate. He always had a smile on his face and was constantly busy making his fellow students and Staff laugh even when we knew he wasn't feeling well at all. He will be dearly missed. My deepest condolences to both the Anawak and Penner Families, you've lost a very special guy. - Posted by: perry mcgregor (friend) on: Oct 16, 2013
