GEORGE NICHOL George Nichol of Stonewall, MB, formerly of Warren, MB, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2013 at Stonewall Hospital with family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. Survived by his wife Isabel, his sons Glen (Judy), Ross (Sandy), Brian (Sandi), daughter-in-law Roseanne, 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, his sister Bertha Norberg, brothers Earl and Cliff, sister-in-law Kathy Nichol and many relatives in the Comrie and Appleyard families. Predeceased by his first wife Audrey (Comrie), son Lorne, brother Ken, sisters-in-law Helga and Agnes and brother-in-law Vic Norberg. Born December 29, 1927, George was raised near Warren, MB, he spent the first 85 years of his life on the same farm before moving to Stonewall in the fall of 2012. He married Audrey Comrie in 1951 and they had four sons over the next 10 years. Audrey passed away of cancer in 1972 and he remarried in 1975 to Isabel Appleyard. As well as farming George worked for Manitoba Hydro until 1970. He then worked at Standard Aero until his retirement in 1987. In retirement George and Isabel enjoyed many years of camping, fishing, and travel throughout North America and abroad. An avid sportsman, George grew up playing baseball and curling. He continued to golf and curl until late in his life. He had a passion for woodworking and was a longtime member of the Warren Lions Club. Memorial service will be held at MacKenzie Funeral Home, 433 Main Street, Stonewall, MB on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. The family wishes to thank the compassionate professionals at home care and the Stonewall Hospital.
