VERNA MARGARET CARTER (nee MCCULLOCH) (STEWART) February 15, 1919 - October 29, 2013 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Verna Margaret Carter, age 94 years, on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 with her family by her side at Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital. She is predeceased by first husband Elmer Stewart, siblings Minnie, June, Lloyd, Rhoda, and son-in-law Bill Campbell. She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Don Carter; her daughter Darlene (Ern); sister Beulah (Clayton); sister-in-law Joan Carter; grandchildren, Sherri (Dean), Kristin (Garth), Kyle (Amanda), Shayne; great-grandchildren, James, Aidan, Melody, Alaynna, Emmett; step-children Ted (Cheryl), Don, Pat (Jerry), step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Verna was born in Rosetown, SK and grew up in Argyle, MB. She married Elmer Stewart and lived in Dauphin, Warren and then Argyle. After Elmer's passing Verna continued living on the family farm until she met and married Don Carter in 1974. Verna and Don farmed North of Argyle until they moved into Stonewall Lions Manor in 2007. Verna was very active with the Warren and Argyle Curling Leagues as well as attending many zone playoffs. She was honoured as a lifetime member of the Argyle Curling Club. Verna was a member of the Royal Canadian Ladies Auxiliary and the Brant Argyle United Church Woman's group. Verna enjoyed fishing, traveling, gardening, spending time with her great-grandchildren, going to the "beach", watching her favourite tennis player Roger Federer, and most of all the extra helping of dessert. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Home, 433 Main Street, Stonewall, MB. Rev. Leonard Oracheski will officiate.
