Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSE PATRICIA FAYKES It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mom, Baba and Great-Baba on November 6, 2013 at Donwood Manor, at the age of 94, surrounded by her family. Rose was predeceased by her husband Fred in 1996, her parents Peter and Julia Tutkaluk, and all her siblings, John, Clara, Stanley and Mike. She will be greatly missed by her six daughters and their families: Linda and John (Traci and Darryl, Allyssa and Rachel; David and Tammy, Kennedy and Jerrett); Donna and Jim (Ryan and Mandy; Damien and Deanna); Marilyn and Don (Jenn and Jason; Ashley and Sean); Cindy and Gord (Layne and Lori; Kelly and Denis, Janelle and Ashlyn); Jo-Anne and Jeff (Brett, Lexi); Leslie and Craig. She will also be missed by her beloved grandpets, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. Rose was born July 12, 1919 in Seech, Manitoba. She loved going to school but had to leave after grade seven to help out on the family farm. She moved to Winnipeg at a young age and did domestic work, worked in a restaurant and at Atlas Brush Company. She met her husband Fred and they were married on June 6, 1946. They shared 50 wonderful years together and raised six lovely daughters they were extremely proud of. Mom's life was dedicated to her family. She loved to cook and the family loved her cooking, especially her homemade soups, perogies, cabbage rolls, dill pickles and shortbread cookies. She enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who she looked after at various times when they were growing up. Mom loved her garden and her flowers. At 78 years of age, mom took her first plane trip to Nashville with her six daughters and son-in-law. A highlight of the trip was visiting The Grand Ole Opry. She enjoyed this trip thoroughly and talked about it for years. Although mom lost her eyesight in her 80s, she still enjoyed listening to the radio and old time country music especially the Saturday night polka party. We would like to thank Leslie and Craig for taking mom into their home and lovingly caring for her for six years. We would also like to extend our gratitude to the staff at Donwood Manor for the care and compassion they showed our mom during her stay there. Extra special thanks to Mom's companions Diane, Tina and Linda. Service of Remembrance will be held at Green Acres Funeral Home on Monday, November 11, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Donations may be made in Rose's memory to C.N.I.B., Canadian Diabetes Association or The Winnipeg Humane Society.
