ANNA DIDUCH Anna Diduch passed away peacefully on November 8, 2013, surrounded by family, at the age of 92 years. Anna was born on November 1, 1921 in the village of Drohomjyshyl, povit Yavoriv, Lvivsha oblast, Western Ukraine. She survived the famine in Ukraine but the Second World War saw her placed in work camps in Germany where she met her husband Wasyl. They married in 1945 and immigrated to Canada, with their son Roman, in 1948, first living and working on her Aunt's farm in Alonsa and then moving to Winnipeg. Anna was deeply loved and cherished and is mourned by sons Roman (Rose), William (Karen), Ron (Nancy); grandchildren Michael, Jessica, Katherine, Francesca, Lisa and Christopher; great-grandchildren Sophia and Lorelai; nieces Irene Osinchuk and Pat Cotroneo; nephew Gerry Brosnyak and their families and many cousins. Anna was predeceased by her husband Wasyl; parents Andrij and Kateryna Paniusz; brother Klymko; sister Anastasia and brother-in-law John Brosnyak, and nephew George Brosnyak. Anna's life was one of devotion to God and her family. She instilled a love for Ukrainian culture and traditions in her children and grandchildren. Her strong Christian faith sustained her throughout life's many hardships. She especially cherished her special bond and time spent with her sister Anastasia. Anna was a very positive person who was thankful for all her blessings, no matter how small. She was a strong woman who believed in the value of hard work and education and she instilled those values into her family. Anna loved cooking, especially for family and friends and was the feature cook at many of the great North End restaurants. She made the absolute best holubtsi, baked chicken and apple squares. There was always an open place at her kitchen table and you never left her home hungry. Special thanks to Dr. T. Babick and the nurses and staff at Holy Family Home for the loving care and compassion she received the last three years of her life. Divine Liturgy will be held on November 13, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Valdimir and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Mitrat M. Buyachok. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anna's memory to: Holy Family Home, 165 Aberdeen Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R2W 1T9 or a charity of your choice.
