HENRY KOOP January 27, 1933 - November 10, 2013 Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer - Romans 12:12 Henry Koop has gone home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ, who saved him by His grace, and his Heavenly Father who he knew was holding his hand all the way. He slipped away peacefully at home in the arms of his devoted wife, who cared for him so lovingly, especially during his last illness. He will be deeply missed by Lena, his life partner of 57 years, and their children: Hedy Hirschfeld (Fred) of Calgary, Marvin Koop (Pat) of Sudan, Larry Koop (Lori) and Al Koop (Lea Ann) (all of Winnipeg), as well as 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Justina Koop, and four siblings: Mary Kornelsen (Jake), Herman Koop (Martha), Hannah Koslowsky (Martin) and Ursula Truderung (Gert). Henry was born in Paraguay to Peter (deceased) and Justina Koop, moving to Steinbach, Manitoba with his family in 1952. With great attention to detail, he plied his trade as a cabinet-maker, and with Victor Dyck established Kildonan Custom Cabinet Ltd. in 1974. Retiring in 1992, Henry and Lena enjoyed living at Nutimik Lake in the warmer seasons and spending several months in Mexico in the winter, making many new friends along the way. He survived colo-rectal cancer in 2005, and after a diagnosis of lung cancer in 2011, God granted him two years until its recurrence in August 2013. We would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and medical professionals who cared for him, including Drs. Coates, Matsubara, Tan, Leylek, and Dowling. We are especially grateful to the Palliative Home Care Team: Dr. Bruce Martin, nurses Dana and others, and personal care givers, all of whom provided excellent compassionate care and support these past two months. A time of visitation and viewing will take place on Sunday, November 24, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., at Bethania Personal Care Home Chapel, 1045 Concordia Ave. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 25 at North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, 1315 Gateway Rd. with Pastor Brian Russell of McDermot Avenue Baptist Church officiating. Reception and interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation would be appreciated. On line condolences at www.friendsfs.ca

Our most sincere condolences go to all Henry's family. We met Henry when we were quite young. Henry worked with my father at Washington Cabinets for many years prior to starting Kildonan Custom Cabinets. He was a very dedicated, meticulous, generous gentleman. We will never forget the time and effort he put into helping build coffee and end tables for us when we were married. Well acutually I helped him. We know he will be missed dearly.
