Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERTRUD HILDEGARD BUECHLER On November 15, 2013, at the age of 93 years, Gertrud Hildegard Buechler peacefully passed away at the Health Sciences Centre. Hilde leaves to mourn her three daughters Agnes (Heinz) Nagel, Heidemarie McIlwain, and Dorothy Kafka, her stepchildren Nikolaus (Berta) Bender, Elvira Bender, her grandchildren Erika, Heinz-Jurgen, Stuart, Mark, Martin, Kelsey, Sharon, Amanda, Sarah, and Richard, her nine great-grandchildren, her sister Christa Blasko, her nieces Dagmar, Maria, Christine, and her nephew Andreas. She was predeceased by her first husband, Emmanuel Bender, her second husband, William (Bill) Buechler, and her final partner Theo Behnke. She was born in Wildenfels, Germany, and emigrated to Canada in 1954 with Emmanuel, where they worked first on a farm at Union Point, Manitoba and then moved to Winnipeg. After the death of Emmanuel in 1964, she worked hard to support her daughters as a single parent, until she met Bill in 1967. In 1990, a few years after Bill's death, she moved to Emerson, Manitoba with Theo, where she enjoyed her beautiful, large yard and flower gardens. After Theo's death and because of her declining health, Hilde moved to Arlington Haus in Winnipeg in 2008. Hilde was full of life, loved to dance, sang with the German choir in Winnipeg, and was always friendly and out-going. She was a great help to Emmanuel's children living in Siberia, and would send them and her other overseas relatives parcels of food and clothing to help them through some very difficult times. She will be sadly missed by all whose lives she touched. In accordance with her wishes a private family memorial service will be held. Ruhe sanft, beliebte Mutti!
