WILLIAM CROCKATT April 18, 1919 - November 18, 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bill Crockatt on Monday, November 18, 2013, at the age of 94. Bill leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Sadie, of 68 years; his children, Russ (Barb), Barb (Verne), Ken (Virginia), Donna (Peter), Wendy (Dave), Cliff (son-in-law); grandchildren, Jamie (Darren), Colin (Pam), Deric, Christine (Paul), Michael, Kyle (Lau), Devin, Jennifer (Chris), and Alanna, as well as three great-grandchildren Ethan, April and Mila. He was predeceased by his eldest daughter, Anne; parents Tom and Mary; brothers John, Jim, and Dave. He is survived by his sister Anne Ostop; brother Hughie (Nancy); brother-in-law Russ Manchester, and sisters-in-law Eileen and Phyllis Crockatt, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was born in Cockermouth, England, and came to Canada at six months old. Moved to Elva, MB, then in 1935 the family of eight moved to Argyle. He married the love of his life, Sadie Manchester in 1945, bought a farm in Argyle where they raised their children. Bill farmed until 1990, then moved to Stonewall in 1995 and continued to help his sons, until he was unable. He was a dedicated school bus driver for Interlake School Division for 32 years, board member of the Argyle Hall Board, School Board, United Church Board, as well as the Argyle Curling Club. He helped his sons in the 4-H Beef Club, where he was a proud father when they received Reserve and Grand Championships. He was devoted to his family, always there with a helping hand or advice when needed. He and Sadie enjoyed travelling out West to visit relatives, as well as spending many winters in Texas or Arizona. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Stonewall Hospital and Betel Care Home in Selkirk for their great care. The funeral service will be held Friday, November 22, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Home in Stonewall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
