CHARLES (CHUCK) ROBERT SPALDING November 21, 1929 - November 19, 2013 After a lengthy illness Chuck Spalding passed peacefully at the Riverview Health Centre just two days short of his 84th birthday. Dad was predeceased by his beloved parents George and Katie and his longtime partner Olive Gray. Chuck is survived by his two sons, Chris (Glennis) and Clayton (Cory) and their mother Audrey; his four grandsons Graham, Drew, Adam and Darren (Meredith) as well as his great-granddaughter Ella. He was born in Winnipeg and for 40 years worked as a yardman for the C.P.R. retiring in 1988. Upon retirement, Chuck and Olive spent many winters as snowbirds in Texas enjoying square dancing and warm weather. Their summers were passed idyllically in Gimli. Eventually returning to Winnipeg, they resided at Kiwanis Chateau, 430 Webb Place for many years where he lived until illness took him to Riverview. At Kiwanis Chateau, Chuck made many friends that were very dear to him. There are many to mention but Chuck was always grateful for the caring and thoughtfulness of Tess, and the friendship of Hy and Conrad to name but a few. The family would like to thank Brenda and the kind folks at Palliative Care; Norma, Angela, Keri and Dr. Martin for their caring and professionalism while still at home. We would also like to thank the amazing staff at Riverview E3; Tony, Angela, Larissa and Sabrina for their kindness and attention over the last few days making Chuck as comfortable as possible. At Chuck's request there will be no formal service. Cremation has taken place. There will be a private family gathering and remembrance at a later date.
