YVETTE MARIE BERARD Yvette Marie Berard, aged 75, of Winnipeg passed away peacefully on Monday, November 25, 2013 at the Victoria General Hospital after a short but brave struggle with cancer. Yvette was born on October 16, 1938 in Winnipeg, MB and grew up in St. Jean-Baptiste, MB. Yvette was the daughter of Ovila and Cecile Berard (Dupuis). Yvette, the second eldest of six children spent her early years attending the rural school near the family farm from Grades 1 to 8 before moving on to the convent in St. Jean-Baptiste to obtain her high school diploma. Much of her childhood was spent working hard on the farm as well as assisting with the care of her younger siblings. After completing high school, Yvette left home to begin her career at the Bank of Nova Scotia in Winnipeg. Yvette had been very active up to the day she entered the hospital. She was an avid traveller and enjoyed spending summer months at her trailer in Sandy Hook. She was passionate about family, fiercely loyal and went to great lengths to ensure that strong family bonds were maintained. Her children and grandchildren were a constant source of pride for her and she took every opportunity to share their achievements with others. Yvette had many friends and touched each and every one of them in her own special way. Yvette was the family's favourite chef, delighting those around her with her talent for creating the most tasty dishes and in particular her Christmas baking. She had a keen interest in genealogy and spent a great deal of time and effort on the family project. Yvette is survived by her loving children Jon (Joanne), Bob (Tricia), Mark (Hilary), Michael (Jenny), and Susanne (Richard), along with her grandchildren: Michael, Kelsey, Marcus, Kiana, Paisley, Natalie, Tucker, Allisa, Eli, Nash and Reese. She also leaves behind her sisters, Rose, Paulette, Carole, and sister-in-law Marie as well as many nieces and nephews. Yvette was predeceased by her parents Ovila and Cecile, brothers Gilbert, Jean-Paul, and brother-in-law Bill Kidd. The family would like to acknowledge her sisters, nieces and nephews who were a source of constant help in Yvette's time of need. Special thanks to the staff at Victoria General Hospital (U4N) who provided tender and compassionate care throughout Yvette's stay as well as support to the family. A celebration of Yvette's life will take place at Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery, #1 Hwy. East at Navin Road, Winnipeg on Monday, December 2 at 10:00 a.m. Refreshments will follow immediately thereafter.
