PETER OKIPNIK It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Peter Okipnik on Monday, November 25, 2013 at the age of 76. Peter leaves to mourn his passing his longtime friend Mary Cooper, his sons Glen and Craig, daughters Sandy, Lisa and Shawna, and grandchildren Bryce and Tiana. He is also survived by his brothers Ted (Agnes) and Steve (Crysta), and sister Anne. He was predeceased by his parents Donald and Pauline Okipnik, sisters Helen Melnyk, Olga Sutherland and Mary Havelock. Peter worked at the University of Manitoba Dental College for 40 years in refrigeration. He retired at the age of 55 and enjoyed every minute of it. He loved the outdoors and was always out there working on some project. Peter enjoyed golfing and bowling with his brother Ted and their buddies. He has been an avid bowler for 54 years. The family would like to thank Dr. Reuben Kalra and emergency staff at Concordia Hospital for their compassionate care and kindness. Peter's wishes were to be cremated. A private memorial service will be held at Concordia Hospital. Flowers are gratefully declined; donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation in Peter's name.
