Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTRUDY SHANNON It is with heavy hearts we announce that on December 4, 2013, Trudy Shannon (nee Gertrude Alma Niesler) passed away peacefully after a brief illness. She will be missed by her daughter Lynn (Bob) Cooper; her sons Tom Shannon and Glenn (Karen) Shannon; her grandchildren Darrell and Blair Cooper, Kelly and Richard Shannon; her great-granddaughters Adria and Kyra; her brother and sisters-in-law Donald and Vivian Shannon and Marlene Shannon, and extended Shannon, Niesler and Kramble families. Her husband and sweetheart Tom, her parents, brother Walter, and sisters Betty, Erna and Margaret predeceased her. Trudy was born September 29, 1927 in Transcona to German immigrants Freda and Theodore Niesler. Our parents married in 1948 and enjoyed living in various locations while our father was in the R.C.A.F. She maintains treasured friendships from those years. She retired from the Winnipeg Tax Centre in 1992, having made several life-long friends. She thoroughly enjoyed living at St. Michael's Villa where she made many friends and acquaintances. Trudy devoted her life to supporting her children and grandchildren and has left us great memories to cherish. She was an avid sports fan, especially football and curling. She loved knitting, cooking and baking. Our family would like to thank the staff at Concordia Hospital for their care and kindness. Donations to the Children's Hospital, CE501, 840 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1S1; or the research center of the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation, C1026-409 Taché Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6, would be appreciated, as these were the favourites of her charities. A service to celebrate Trudy's life will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at her church, the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Kildare Avenue and Madeline Street in Transcona. Private interment to follow. Arrangements by BIRCHWOOD FUNERAL CHAPEL 1-204-346-1030 OR 1-888-454-1030

It is will great sadness that I read of Trudy's passing today. I don't look at passages very often but something made me search for Trudy's name today. Unfortunately I had semi lost touch with Trudy after my own retirement in 1998 when I no longer had a vehicle to go and see her. I have thought of her often and kept thinking I should call her but kept putting it off. I am so sorry that I did that. I know everyone that was fortunate enough to get to know Trudy was blessed to know such a wonderful person. I enjoyed our years working together and the years of friendship after I left Taxation. I will miss her dearly and remember her always. Lynn I can only say I am sorry it took me so long to be able to send my condolences to you and the rest of your family. Time is a great healer even when we think the pain will never go away from losing our parents. Remember all the good times. God bless you all! - Posted by: Mona Baker (Friend from Taxation Days) on: Oct 26, 2015

Ilene expresses her heartfelt sorrow to learn of her 'old friend and pal's' passing. Trudy and Ilene's bond was 45+ years of giggling on the telephone. All the Robinson family will miss Trudy dearly. - Posted by: Sharyn Robinson-Clark (Friend) on: Dec 21, 2013
