Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLORNE ALLEN FURST August 29, 1931 - December 12, 2013 Suddenly but peacefully, Lorne passed away at the age of 82. He was born in Morris, MB but spent most of his life in Winnipeg, raising a family of two sons and a daughter with his loving wife Audrey. Left to remember him are his daughter Lori (Darrell), his son Kevin and his two grandsons Jonathan (Stefany) and Colin, along with many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Audrey, his son Jeff, sister Doreen, brothers-in-law Jim and Ronnie, and nephew Eric. Lorne was always there for anyone that needed his help or guidance. He was a very sociable person; he would make friends with a simple "hello" and carry on a conversation about anything and everything. He had a huge heart and never hesitated to show it. After moving into an apartment, he was quick to be an active participant in the social club from playing crib and whist to attending daily lunches and activities. His favourite pastime was sitting outside the front doorway, greeting people as they entered the building. He was also active in events for the CNR retirees. He will be missed by many. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, January 4, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at North Kildonan United Church, 174 Pentland Ave. Remembrance keeps him near, forever in our hearts. LORNE ALLEN FURST With sadness the family announces the peaceful and sudden passing of Lorne on December 12, 2013 at Concordia Hospital at 82 years of age. Following through with Dad's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at a later date. A longer obituary will follow in next Saturday's edition.

I've only known Lorne for a year as I recently moved into Parkside Plaza. It was always a happy occasion to play whist or cribbage with him either in partnership or as an opponent.
