HORST FRIZTWALTER RENNPFERD Horst Friztwalter Rennpferd, 83, of Winnipeg, MB, joined his Lord surrounded by the love of his family on December 12, 2013. Horst is survived by his wife Katherine (nee Kroeker) Rennpferd of 52 years, daughter Margaret (Robert) Johnson, son Richard (Dawn), son Douglas, grandchildren Ian and Taylor, sisters Gertrude, Barbara, Brunhild, and many loving extended family and friends. Horst was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all. Born in Germany March 12, 1930, Horst immigrated to Canada at the age of 21, building a life in his beloved adopted country through hard work and courage. Horst met the love of his life Katherine, and married in 1960, with the blessing of three children soon after. Horst was a man of many talents, working as a horticulturist, accountant and minister, but his true loves were his garden, his camera, and his family and friends. Horst will always be remembered for his work in the Millennium Gardens in North Kildonan, his gifts of handmade wooden birds, homemade wine, and his generous spirit. A special thank you to the Concordia Hospital for their loving care and support. Also thanks to Friends Funeral Home for all of the arrangements, and Pastor Gerhard Friesen for his loving help through this time. A family service was held December 18, 2013 at Friends Funeral Service. Horst will be laid to rest at the Chapel Lawn Cemetery.
