JOYCE BAILEY (nee MASON) With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Joyce Bailey on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at the Kin Place personal care home in Oakbank, MB. Joyce will be sadly missed by her daughters Donna (Darrell) Rohoway and Bev (Dave) McGregor, and daughter-in-law, Linda Bailey. Also left to cherish her memories are her grandchildren, Andrew, Ellen, Dana (Dan), Nolan and a few special nieces and nephews. Joyce was predeceased by her husband Norman, son James, and sisters Nina Giesbrecht and Roberta Golding. Joyce was born in St. Boniface on April 25, 1929. Joyce grew up and went to school in Ste. Anne. After graduating, Joyce entered normal school to begin her teaching career. In 1952 Joyce took a break from teaching when she joined the Navy and served as a communicator. After she returned to teaching, she met the love of her life Norman Bailey, and they were wed on August 11, 1956. Over the years, Joyce taught in the communities of Elm Creek, Woodlands, Elm Grove and Oakbank. Joyce also enjoyed her role as a farm wife where she helped Norman run the family farm in Elm Grove. After Norman's death Joyce left the farm and went to work for the Canadian Grain Commission and later the RCMP. Her hobbies included curling, needle point, sewing and doing word puzzles. She also enjoyed playing cards and many hours were spent playing cribbage and whist with family and friends A Memorial Service will be held at Green Acres Funeral Home, Winnipeg, MB on Friday, December 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow in Green Acres Cemetery. The family would like to thank the nurses, care givers and Dr. Wiebe for their excellent care in looking after mom. In lieu of flowers, if you so wish, a donation in memory of Joyce may be made to the Oakbank Personal Care Home or to a charity of your choice.
