Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN PETER SCHOENFELD Peacefully on January 3, 2014, John Peter Schoenfeld, beloved husband of Anne, passed away at Riverview Health Centre after a lengthy illness. Besides his wife, he is survived by son Rick (Carole), daughters Nancy (Ron) and Karen (John); grandchildren Jeffrey (Alexis), Ashley (Chad), Amy (Trevor) and Tabitha (David); great-grandson Ryan; sister Helen (Jacob), brothers Bill (Glynis) and Ralph (Bonnie); sisters-in-law Eva, Tina, Leona and Irene; brother-in-law Henry (Linda); and many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents Peter and Katharina (Funk) and brothers Peter, Tony and Henry. John was born on September 26, 1931 in Osterwick, Russia and immigrated to Paraguay during the war where he lived for six years. John eventually settled in Winnipeg in 1953 and met his future wife in the same year. His work life included various jobs; primarily in sales and service at Sears and as a City of Winnipeg bus operator until he retired in 1995. John and Anne enjoyed travelling, with Hawaii being his favourite destination. The family wishes to give a special thank you to Dr. Joanna Webb and Dr. Ted St. Goddard and all the staff of 3E at Riverview for their compassionate care. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Ave. with viewing at the church prior to the service. The interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Riverview Health Centre or Mennonite Central Committee.
