LAURA IRWIN Laura Irwin passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the age of 95. She was born in Winnipeg and graduated from University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics and a Bachelor of Education. She taught in Winnipeg for many years. Laura's journey took her and her husband Larry to Fort Frances where they raised their family and were the proprietors of the Irwin Hotel. Later they purchased the Sioux Narrows Hotel in Sioux Narrows, ON. Besides her family, Laura enjoyed cooking, needlework and travelling. She was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren and their passion for higher education. Laura was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her husband Larry Irwin and her brother William Ozero (Fort Frances). She is survived by her children Donna Joy, Ron (Ann), Darlene (Barry) and Laureen and her grandchildren Sean and Kim Halliday, Marah and Whitney Graham and Chase Smith as well as her great-granddaughter Phoebe Halliday. A family gathering will be held at a later date. Our family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Meadowood Manor for the wonderful care given to Laura in the past years.
