Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKAREN LOUISE KRAEMER (nee SOLILAK) Heaven has another angel. Peacefully, on January 24, 2014, Karen Louise Kraemer passed away at the Victoria Hospital, Winnipeg. Karen was born in Winnipeg on November 10, 1941 to Peter and Sarah (nee Hartle) Solilak and lived her entire life in Winnipeg. She attended the Manitoba School for the Deaf and later on, worked at Sanford and Evans. Karen married Joseph Kraemer on June 6, 1981. For over 30 years Karen has resided at the Deaf Centre, Winnipeg, where she made many dear and lasting friendships. The residents and staff at the Deaf Centre were Karen's "second" family and she treasured each and every one. Karen always had a smile for everyone and, though tiny in stature, her heart was huge and she was always willing to help in any way she could. Karen had a keen sense of humour and loved to joke around. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting and was very active in volunteering around The Centre. Karen's strong faith sustained her throughout her lifetime. Karen was predeceased by her husband Joe in 1981, her father Peter in 1989, her mother Sarah in 1990 and her brother Wayne in 2005. She is survived by her nephews Jeff and Gary Solilak, and her great-nephew Kenny. Karen cherished them dearly. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the residents and staff at the Deaf Centre for all their kindness, consideration, friendship and help shown to Karen over the years. You truly were Karen's "family." Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. Should you desire, donations in memory of Karen can be made to a charity of your choice or to the Deaf Centre, 285 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, MB R3L 2E1.

I remember Karen as a child, and well as growing up, and she was a wonderful woman, kind hearted and so sweet and tiny when I hugged her I felt like I was gonna break her, ut she always loved her hugs and loved holding my children as babies. Kind hearted and funny but that's what I loved about her. You will always be remembered by me. I met Karen when I first moved into the deaf centre of Manitoba in 1994. She had taught me a lot about the love of sign language. we would play cards, go camping in Lilac Resort so many memories there. I would help her in many things and ways. She always had a great smile and sense of humor. She always loved to joke with other people. she had volunteer her time to do bingo and help other people when needed. I remember the time that it was spring break and I would come in spend a night then she would come with me to Brandon but didn't think it would snow on our way in she borrowed my sweater that was too big. lol but hey it kept her warm. Took her on a tour to Brandon then we went to my parent's place in Baldur MB, boy after a couple of days she said Baldur was boring. Boy she was right. lol Gosh so much memories in so little time. LOVE YOU Karen. Will miss you forever and we will meet again. oxox - Posted by: Bobbi (Lockhart) and Brian Haines (Close friend ) on: Feb 01, 2014
