ETHEL ROSE MIDDLEDITCH DIUBALDO August 15, 1940 February 4, 2014 Our remarkable mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend passed away February 4, 2014 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, MB with family by her side. Mom was predeceased by her parents Jack and Laura Roland; brother Herk Roland and most recently her husband Dominic DiUbaldo on February 3, 2014. Mom will be sadly missed by her six children; Tony Roland of Richer, MB, Linda McDonald (Doug) of Lillooet, BC, Timothy Middleditch (Chun) of Columbus, OH, Launi Middleditch, Chester Middleditch and Lee-Ann Middleditch of Saltspring Island, BC; seven grandchildren Amy (Lane) Falk, Sean (Bobbi) Day, Zacary and Emilie Verboom, Danny (Sunyount) Miller, Perry Miller and Carrie Middleditch; six great-grandchildren Chloe, Alya, Chase, Gavin, Hahni and Ahra, as well as her six siblings and all of her close-knit family and friends. Mom was an Island Girl, born and raised on Saltspring Island and ever proud of her Hawaiian Heritage. Spending a majority of her life on the West Coast, she met Dom on the Island and soon after moved East to Manitoba 20 years ago where she enjoyed working in her "Bloomin' Lovely" greenhouse, volunteering at Steinbach Central, being a member of the Richer Young at Hearts Club and attending any garage sale in a 50 mile radius. She was known for her sense of humour, quick wit, and unique style. Mom also thoroughly enjoyed spending her time making jewelry, doing a wide array of crafts and adding to her treasured stamp collection. Grandma was an amazing woman and taught each and every one of her children and grandchildren the true meaning of love, respect, and family. The most important things in her life were her family and friends for whom she would do anything. She was truly young at heart and her gorgeous smile, incredible sense of humour and kindness will always be remembered by all that knew her, and never forgotten. Our family would like to thank each and every person who helped care for our Mom during her last days, from the emergency crews to the amazing staff and doctors of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Health Sciences Centre. Funeral services for Ethel and Dom will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 710 Roanoke St, Winnipeg, MB. "Last night in my dreams I saw your face again, we were there in the sun, on a white sandy beach of Hawaii" We love you bigger than the sky. • Ethel, you will be dearly missed. You were loved by so many. Although you are gone, your Spirit is still here among us, and will be for generations to come. We will all talk about how you touched our lives with your knowledge, and experience. The sense of humor you had or your amazing craft skills. And how about your sayings, or "Rolandisms", as we know them here on Saltspring. How witty and thought provoking were those. Your grandchildren will all share stories of you to their children. You were, and still are, a big part of so many people's lives. And that amount of energy can not be stopped. Until er mert again Ethel, thankyou for all you have done for me :-) - Posted by: Daron Wall (Family friend) on: Feb 09, 2014
