ALEXANDER (SANDY) CARTER LIVINGSTON Peacefully, on January 28, 2014, at the Victoria Hospital, Alexander (Sandy) passed away. Sandy was born on February 5, 1929 in Kirkcaldy, Scotland and was raised in Rosyth, Scotland, where his father worked as a ferry captain. Sandy moved to Winnipeg in 1955 to marry the love of his life; Nancy Brooks, who he met when he was in Winnipeg training with the RAF as a navigator. According to Sandy, they met on a blind date when he was not even the first choice for the evening. Due to the illness of the original date and a negotiated price of a couple of drinks, Sandy agreed to step in. Little did he realize that this blind date would change the course of his life forever. After returning to the UK to complete his RAF service, Dad eventually moved to Winnipeg, married Nancy on March 3, 1956 and together they raised four children. Sandy worked as a civil engineer for the Province of Manitoba Bridges and Structures and Highways departments until his retirement in 1987. Sandy and Nancy moved to Calgary in 1996 and enjoyed hiking and walking in the mountains. He also enjoyed golf, reading, bridge and travelling. Sandy's travels included both early family camping trips to Rushing River, ON, the Rockies and one memorable adventure to the Maritimes that included a station wagon, tent trailer, four kids and a dog. His more recent and relaxing trips alone with Nancy included trips to the UK, Europe, Caribbean, and South Pacific. After the passing of his wife Nancy in 2008, Sandy returned to Winnipeg to be closer to his family. Sandy is survived by his children, David, Colin (Diane), Kathryn (Brent), Malcolm (Brandee), and his grandchildren Andrew, Emily and Heather. He is also survived by his sister Nan (Sam) of Leeds, England, sister-in-law Ruth (Jerry) of Parksville, BC, and nieces and nephews in Canada and overseas. In accordance with Dad's wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 2B7. VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIAM, (204) 668-3151
