CHRISTA IGNASZEWSKI It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Christa Liane Ignaszewski. A loving mother and a treasured friend. Christa died peacefully on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 88 years surrounded by her closest family. Born in Limbach, Germany August 15, 1925, Christa came to Canada in Winnipeg in 1954 with her husband Jerry and young son Jerry where they began the challenge of living and working in a foreign land with the goal for a better life. The goal was achieved by not giving in or giving up. Christa was predeceased by her husband Jerry, her parents Otto and Hilda Heise, and her brother Joachim Heise. She is survived by her two sons Jerry (Delia) and John (Mary-Anne), her granddaughters Christine and Tara, her great-grandchildren Samantha, Sabrina, Jordan, Hope and Hunter, great-great-grandchildren, and friends, including family in Germany (her sister Regina, niece and nephews). Please join us for a short service and reception to celebrate Christa's life on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home at 220 Hespeler Avenue (corner of Hespeler and Henderson Highway). In lieu of flowers, donations in Christa's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Winnipeg. Our utmost appreciation and special thanks to the St. Boniface Hospital, Cardiac-Intensive Care Unit staff for their support and the exceptional care they have provided for our mom.
