Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONNA MARELENE ROSAASEN (nee RICHARDSON) November 10, 1938 - February 19, 2014 Peacefully, with family at her side, Donna passed into the hands of the Lord on Wednesday, February 19, 2014. Donna was predeceased by her parents, Helen and Horace Richardson. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 51 years Lennard and her three children, Robyn (John), Sherri and Dale. She is also survived by brothers Jack and Dennis and their families. Donna was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Selkirk, Manitoba. She was a strong academic student with excellent organizational skills and a memory like a steel trap. A strong believer in a woman's right to pursue a career outside the home, Donna worked most of her adult life. She started work at the Prairie Farmer and moved to the Winnipeg Free Press where she met the love of her life. Donna later became a successful office manager for the provincial NDP. As anyone who knew her well can attest, Donna was a force to be reckoned with. She worked tirelessly for many worthwhile social and political causes including education, health care, the church, and any family and friends who needed support. Donna also had a wonderful sense of humour. She made others laugh easily, was always up for a good prank and could lighten any situation with her quick wit. Donna's interests were many and varied. She enjoyed curling, gardening, playing cards, and decorating. She was an avid fan of hockey, football, figure skating and music of all kinds. Donna and her family also travelled extensively, to such far-flung destinations as England, France, Australia, Hawaii and Jamaica, and a cruise in the Mediterranean. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital for their care when mom needed it most. We would also like to extend a special thank you to family and friends for their thoughts, prayers and support. Cremation has taken place and a service will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., at North Kildonan United Church, 174 Pentland Street, Winnipeg, R2G 2S3. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the North Kildonan United Church Building Fund. A private family interment will take place at a later date. "Another beautiful flower for God's garden"

In loving remembrance of a truly wonderful women, friend, "my other Mother", and so much more. I will miss you terribly, not sure if I'll ever be able to check my email inbox without looking for a funny anecdote, touching story, or some bad politics to raise my blood pressure. Len, Robyn & John, Sherri & Dale I am very saddened by the news of our dear Donna's passing. I have such fond memories of all the years we worked together at Provincial Office along with numerous campaigns in Springfield and elsewhere. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. I am sorry that I am out of the country and will be unable to attend her service. My thoughts are with you all today. We are so sad to hear of Donna's passing. Our hearts are with Len and the kids as they try to believe she's gone. Donna was a live wire in our family quick to make our time together fun. She and Len never forgot to spend time with our family through the years and were dedicated to keeping us in touch. We will never forget her.
