Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN HRYCIW Peacefully, with his family by his side, our father, John Hryciw passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital on February 22, 2014, four months short of his 93rd birthday. Dad was born on June 22, 1921 in the village of Horucko, Drohobych, Western Ukraine. As a young man he spent the war years in Germany and immigrated to Canada in January of 1949. In Winnipeg, he married his wife Tillie, who sadly predeceased him in 1991. Dad lived in Canada for over 65 years and was proud to call Winnipeg his home. He was a member at Christ the King and St. Andrew's Ukrainian Catholic parishes. Dad was employed by the University of Manitoba, retiring in 1986. For the last five years, he resided at Holy Family Home when he was no longer able to live at home with his daughter Nancy. Besides his wife Tillie, Dad was predeceased by his mother Anastasia in Ukraine; his father Alexander, and in-laws, Paul and Rose Lisowick. He is survived by his daughters, Nancy and Carol; son-in-law, Peter Gojan; sister, Nancy; brothers, Bill and Larry; numerous nieces and nephews across Canada, the United States and Ukraine who will all remember him fondly. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 27 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Many thanks to Dr. T.
