I was the HR Supervisor at HBC and was delighted to hire Joyce and Anita Loewan around the same time. I adored them both. It seems impossible that Joyce has passed away. I feel so sad, especially for her large family as I know how much time she put into loving each of them. I learned quickly how she got done, as she had no off button, and had an incredible number of plates in the air at any given time. Her vibrant personality, integrity, energy, and genuine love and concern for everyone in her path was unlike anyone I have ever known. I have photos of us and will never forget her brilliant, sincere room lighting smile. Thank you dear Joyce for the beauty you brought to my world. - Posted by: Carol Barbeau (Hired Joyce @ Hudson’s Bay Co. and became friends ) on: May 15, 2019

Just heard of Joyce's passing today. So sorry I could not be at her memorial service. To Ken and family my condolences. Joyce was a like a light bulb. She brought that light into the lives of many people experiencing darkness. I am grateful for the love and care that I experienced through knowing her. - Posted by: Clarence Braun (Friend) on: May 12, 2014

Joyce epitomized life...she radiated it, especially the life that she had found in Jesus. She had the wonderful gift of bringing value to people, making them feel valued and having purpose. Her heart was filled with compassion, and gave, and gave, and gave of herself. The world is a better place because of Joyce! We thank God for her and her whole family for sharing her with all of us. Thank you! She worked tirelessly along side all of us at Its a New Day...and in latter years was joined by her best friend Ken. We look forward to sharing fellowship with Joyce when time no longer is counted. Blessings, love and our deepest sympathy. - Posted by: Willard and Betty Thiessen (Friend) on: Mar 13, 2014

GFRYZZ Tribute I lived on the same street in Beausejour as Joyce and June and their family, so we played and went to school together. We lost touch over the years. I am so sad for her family but so proud of all she has accomplished in her walk with the Lord. The twins were always together and have the very same smile. Remembered fondly. Thank you Jesus for Joyce and her testamony. It was almost 35 years ago that I met Joyce in her living room having a prayer meeting. It was this wonderful group of ladies praying and interceding for lost souls that helped me find Jesus. I will always be eternally grateful for that open door. I am sure she has many jewels in her crown today for her passion for Jesus. Thank you again Ken for allowing that open door where souls met Jesus through your wife. - Posted by: Grace FryzaGrace G (sister in the Lord) on: Mar 10, 2014

It is times like this that expose how little words can say, and how truly special friends are. Joyce's infectious joy and love for life will live on in our memories, but more-so, her love for her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, will live on forever in her children and grandchildren. Our deepest condolences to Ken, and to the whole family. - Posted by: Karel & Becky Nemetchek (Family friend) on: Mar 10, 2014

My friend Joyce came to me years ago and said "Chickie the Lord told me that I need to help you". I said "Great! What shall we do?" "Start a theatre company" She said. And so we did. With Joyce and Ken doing an amazing amount of work we managed to put together Active Word Productions, We auditioned actors, dancers, singers. Ken made incredible sets. We found musicians, tech. people and put on our first show at the Gas Station Theatre. It was called "Natural High" and was really well received by Christians and non Christians alike. We went on to produce several more at the French Cultural Theatre with good results. What a great time we all had. Joyce was a pioneer in the field of Christian theatre in Winnipeg and a fabulous administrator and friend. I miss you terribly Joyce. My whole family does. The angels in Heaven are all rejoicing to have you among them, probably organizing them into four part harmony. You will be missed my friend. Love you .....chickie - Posted by: Chickie HUGHES (CLOSE FRIEND) on: Mar 09, 2014

My heart is full of emotion for you Luke, Heather, Cassidy-Anne, Sophia and the rest of your family. Sadness at the separation you are experiencing, but also joy at the hope you have firmly rooted in your lives. I didn't know Joyce, but I have a picture of her in my mind: that Hero portrait of her hanging on the school wall. It raised such wonder in my heart at the saving power in the love and truth this grandma brought to her granddaughter. I'm praying for you all. Grace and peace in abundance to you. - Posted by: Patty Doerksen (friend of the family) on: Mar 08, 2014
