Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Uncle Gord was my dad's (Don Bell)oldest brother. Dad loved it when Gord found Vi. She was the light of his life and brought him so much joy. When my mother immigrated from England as a war-bride, after WWII to marry my dad, it was Vi, who welcomed her to Canada, and who had already "experimented" on Diane and MaryLou,and gave my mom advice as to how to raise me...when my mother died at age 48, with myself at 17, and my sister age 7, my mother had said: "If anything happens to me go to your Auntie Vi if you need advice or help." My Dad, little sister, and I did spend many happy Christmas celebrations with Vi and Gord and the rest of the family. Her advice was always good and solid. For many years Vi and I talked by phone every Sunday night, when I was an intern and resident at McGill and later in Atlanta, and back in Edmonton. She followed me to Augusta physically,(no one could do a beach experience, with a walker on the beach and directing us all as to which shells to pick up for her) like Vi. And on those Sunday night phone calls...we discussed the issues. She used to take great pleasure in signing off as follows: "Good night old dear...long pause...I mean YOUNG dear!" Always laughter! She brought so much fun, imagination, love of life, and laughter to so many. My world seemed a safer place because of Auntie Vi. - Posted by: BEVERLY Ann BELL (Niece) on: Apr 05, 2014

  • An amazing woman and a "super" aunt.. Will be missed by all.. I will miss my by-weekly phone calls to her and asking "How is my favorite aunt in Winnipeg", she always replied, "Georgie I am your only Aunt in Winnipeg still alive" - Posted by: George and Joan Robinson (Nephew) on: Mar 22, 2014
